About the Artist

Mistress Ess is a painter and intaglio printmaker who lives in Valencia, Spain. From 2016, she began an exploratory mission to reclaim her pussy, pleasure and erotic power creating a series of artworks dedicated to investigating what sexual liberation and emancipation looks like for her, as an Arab woman. She has exhibited in New York, Valencia, Florence, and Kuwait.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”

– Anais Nin

Shame-Free Art

Mistress Ess began painting her vulva as a form of therapy, exploring and reconnecting with her body and sexuality. Her work is concerned with the liberation of female eroticism and the rejection of patriarchal norms that seek to control and suppress them. She creates a safe and sacred space for self-exploration and empowerment, challenging cultural conditioning and internalized shame.
